Meets every Friday for 22 sessions from 12 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Eastern.

Join us for a powerful Book Club Series designed especially for survivors of who have experienced a military or veteran loss. who are one year or more beyond their loss. Together, we'll read and explore two of Dr. Brené Brown's most meaningful works:

  • Dare to Lead™
  • Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience

Series includes Dr. Brené Brown’s new book Atlas of the Heart: Mapping Meaningful Connection and the Language of Human Experience

This 22-week book club is more than just reading—it’s a chance to connect with others, reflect deeply, and grow together. Each 90-minute session includes:

  • Guided reading using the Read Along Workbook and Glossary
  • Facilitated discussions and breakout room conversations
  • Practical tools for everyday leadership and connection

You don’t need a formal title to lead. This series invites you to show up with courage in your life, work, family, and community.

 

Who Should Attend?

This Book Club series is designed for survivors of who have experienced a military or veteran loss who are ready to explore brave leadership and meaningful connection. Whether you consider yourself a formal leader or simply someone seeking to live more courageously, this space is for you.

 

What You’ll Explore

Over 22 sessions, you’ll engage with themes inspired by Brené Brown’s research:

  • Rumbling with Vulnerability – How to face uncertainty and hard conversations with compassion and courage
  • Living into Your Values – Clarifying what matters most and using those values to guide your actions
  • Braving Trust – Strengthening your relationships through honesty, boundaries, and integrity
  • Learning to Rise – Navigating disappointment and setbacks with resilience and self-awareness
 

What to Expect

  • Weekly Zoom sessions for live engagement
  • A downloadable Read Along Workbook and Glossary
  • Breakout rooms for small group conversation and connection
  • Confidential, supportive space—no recordings will be shared
  • Book Club is led by a Certified Dare to Lead Facilitator
 

Recognition

Participants who complete the series will receive a TAPS Book Club Series Certificate of Completion (33 hours). In addition, a letter for Continuing Coach Education (CCE) will be provided for 33 hours.

Terri L Williams

Terri L. Williams

Terri Williams is an Educator and Executive and Leadership Coach with over twenty years of experience empowering leaders. A proud second-generation military veteran, retired U.S. Army soldier, survivor of the September 11th Attack on the Pentagon, and TAPS Survivor due to her father's passing in 2010, Terri has been a Senior Advisor at the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) since 2018. Trained by Dr. Brené Brown, she has facilitated the Dare to Lead program for thousands of TAPS Survivors, specializing in strengthening skills to lead themselves in living with grief. Her expertise is grounded in vulnerability, values, trust, resilience and emotional intelligence.

As an Adjunct Professor at American University’s Key Executive Program, she inspires leaders by enhancing their skills in leading teams. A Professional Certified Coach (PCC) with the International Coaching Federation (ICF) and the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC). Terri has conducted over 3,000 coaching experiences with leaders from organizations like Apple, General Motors, LinkedIn, Google, the military services, and federal agencies like NASA, Department of Homeland Security, and the Department of Commerce. Additionally, she is a retired senior federal official, having served in the Department of Defense, Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Transportation, the Intelligence Community, and the Federal Aviation Administration.

Terri is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the Vanderbilt University, Peabody College of Education and Human Development, specializing in Leadership and Learning in Organizations. She has completed executive education at Georgetown University, The Wharton School of Business, Cornell University, Yale University, and the VA Senior Executive Candidate Development Program (SESCDP), along with dual graduate degrees in business and management and a bachelor's in business administration.

Terri has received numerous military and civilian awards, and she was awarded the Department of the Army's third-highest civilian recognition, the Meritorious Public Service Medal, in 2021 for her lifetime work in military communities. She enjoys French cooking, bicycling, and yoga. She and her husband are U.S. Army veterans, and a Blue Star Family with a son and niece who are graduates of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point currently serving on active duty.
